About Allison

Warm, Down-to-earth Therapy in Seattle

I take an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from a range of models and techniques to best meet each client’s needs and goals. I work from a strengths-based perspective that focuses on human potential and resilience. Therapy offers a chance to experience yourself differently, discover new insights, and find paths forward when feeling stuck or overwhelmed.

I strive to be trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and culturally attuned. I do so with awareness of the limits of my experience and with an eagerness to keep learning from my clients and the world around me. My practice is committed to inclusivity, is LGBTQIA+ affirming, and takes a holistic view of different cultures, identities, and values.

You can count on me for thoughtful listening, honest dialogue, and steady encouragement.

My Approach

What is Relational Therapy?

I believe we are best understood in the context of our relationships—including early attachments and family dynamics that shape how we move through the world and our current relationships. This informs my approach whether I’m working with an individual client, a couple, or a family.

I also see the connection between therapist and client as a vital form of human relationship and a powerful vehicle for healing.

Clients, friends, and family describe me as insightful, deeply caring, and funny—as well as organized and direct. I bring my full self into relationships with clients, including genuine expressions of feeling. I believe wholeheartedly in the power of emotional experiences for connecting and healing. I can be playful in session and always receive my clients’ humor with appreciation. Clients experience me as a committed ally and companion as they navigate life’s joys and stresses.

A Little More About Me

How My Past Informs My Practice

I grew up outside Philadelphia and moved to Seattle shortly after college in search of new perspectives and experiences. I've lived here ever since, raising three children who keep me both humble and inspired. As someone who has navigated major life changes and wrestled with difficult questions and choices, I bring a great deal of lived experience into the therapy room.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked as an editor—and I remain endlessly fascinated by language and the messy, beautiful project of communication. This interest greatly informs my approach and focus in therapy. I’ll support you in understanding and working through the barriers to good communication in your relationships.
